The wait is finally over if you play
Stardew Valley ($4.99) on PC because the huge 1.6 update has finally gone live. This update will be coming to mobile and consoles as soon as possible, but it has added a lot more than expected to the PC version.
Stardew Valley game creator Eric Barone (ConcernedApe) has been teasing the update and revealing features over the last few months, but he even started posting bits from the patch notes over the last week. The full
Stardew Valley version 1.6 update patch notes can be viewed
here, but be warned for spoilers. The update was a few hundred MB on Steam Deck for me. I’ll dig into the update tomorrow after work. The highlights are
Stardew Valley getting new festivals (Desert Festival and two mini fishing festivals), a new environmental event in summer, the Mastery system in a new area to unlock powerful perks and items, the new Meadowlands Farm type, loads of new dialogue, and more.
This update also adds 8 new achievements, 4 new cabin variants, new accessory options during character creation, visual improvements to waterfalls, holiday decorations, a seasonal world map variant, and so much more. I can’t wait to dig into the update on a new save on Steam Deck this week. If you’ve somehow not played the amazing
Stardew Valley yet, read
our original review for the mobile version, our
Game of the Week feature, and also my comparison for the mobile and Switch versions
here. You can buy it on the App Store for iOS
here and for Android
here on Google Play. It is also available on Apple Arcade. Here’s our
forum thread on the game for more discussion. Will you be checking out
Stardew Valley 1.6 on PC and do you want me to do a review of the game based on its current state?
